$599 Gift From Mike Andes
In 2013 I dropped out of medical school. I was 18 years old.
In 2014, I started Augusta Lawn Care. I remember sitting in my bedroom. I Googled "landscape business course." Only some botany and horticulture certificates showed up. I wanted to learn how to start and grow a lawn care business.
Fast forward 2.5 years later.
August 4, 2016 I got in a near-death workplace accident.
My hoodie got caught in the PTO (power take-off) of a dump truck. I was under the truck to engage the PTO by hand. If you don't know what a PTO is, search "PTO accidents" on YouTube. To walk away from that job site was a miracle. I am thankful.
Later that day, I was lying on a hospital bed. I was Face-timing my crew so they could complete the next project. Over the next couple of weeks, I came to realize a harsh reality. My business stayed alive because I worked 80+ hours each week. It had no systems. I was the bottleneck. Without me, the business would die.
 | Over the next couple of weeks, I lay in bed and healed. I deconstructed my landscaping business. I designed systems and procedures for all the different tasks I did. Once I was back to being healthy, I documented the changes I made in the business. I wanted to share what was working and what was not. I grew the business past $1,000,000 in annual revenue. I made an online course for lawn care entrepreneurs. I called it Landscape Business Course. I charged $599 and used that money to create more content on YouTube.
