Get In The Details!

This is a great interview with Brian Chesky, founder of AirBnB

I do not agree with 100% of this concept or the “bro” feel associated with “founder mode." But it has served me well in the past 3-4 months in regards to hands-on management.

Realize it will be a big shift for your managers. So take it easy if you implement! They will not like it at first. With time, their skills will improve. (If they stick around). The results will speak for themselves.

Above all, avoid pride 💛

Don't let people convince you that you are micromanaging. Be careful of the new-age notion that you need to be "hands off." More businesses fail due to a founder's lack of numbers knowledge than due to micromanagement.

Don't try to drive a car without a dashboard of details.

Don't try to lead a business without measuring and knowing the metrics.

Good leaders know the details.

Good leaders know their numbers.

Good leaders show others what good looks like and then lets them RUN.

PS - This message is for leaders with mid-level managers. If you have one location, one business, or no mid-level managers, I assume you are in the weeds of your business. If not, it won't be long before that business dies.
