I Got Flamed - What I Learned 🔥
Every month we have thousands of customers calling us asking for lawn service. We can't serve their needs. They are out of our service area or asking for services we do not perform.
Last month, I started Augusta Leads to sell these leads to other companies.
We have had over 200 landscapers apply for the program so far.
We sell the leads for $49 flat. We started at $79 per lead and lowered it until we attracted most landscapers.
I received a lot of hate over this decision from Facebook users. Some people said it was a scam. Some said the leads cost too much. Based on analytics, less than 1% watched the video on AugustaLeads.com. It shows who SHOULD and who SHOULD NOT join the Partner Program.
Here is why I ACTUALLY started Augusta Leads.
If Augusta Nation can't help a customer, they will find someone who can.
They will find another landscaper. The landscaper is unlikely to answer the phone.
They likely do not have insurance or pay for workers' comp. This is what gives the landscaping industry a bad rap.
The goal of Augusta Nation is to change this perception. We want to raise the level of professionalism in the industry.
We will sell our unserviceable leads to partners. We have verified their licensing and insurance. The money we make goes to two places:
💰 1.) 50% goes into the pockets of the local Augusta Nation owner.
💰 2.) 50% back into managing the program and creating more tools and resources for this industry.
At Augusta Nation...
✅ We believe in Pay-for-Performance.
✅ We believe in having insurance.
✅ We believe in open-book management.
✅ We believe in having a professional website.
✅ We believe in painted and decaled trucks.
✅ We believe in uniformed employees.
✅ We believe in paying taxes and protecting team members.
✅ We believe that the lawn care industry does not need to be a dead-end job.
To make these the norm for our industry, I want to control lead flow. If a customer can't use Augusta, I want the lead to go to a top company that meets all these standards. We have completed 17% of the road to 1,000 locations when this will happen.
❌ Do I want to hurt the competition? NO. If you do all these things, I want you to get all the work. More work than you can handle. So you can raise prices and pay your team more.
⚠️ Do I want unlicensed, uninsured, and lowest-priced landscapers to lose leads? YES. They give us a bad name, drive prices down, and mistreat their employees. I hope that when it is harder to get leads, they will adopt the standards listed above.
